Ahead of the away game against the Samsung Lions in the 2025 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League exhibition game held at Samsung Lions Park in Daegu on the 8th, SSG head coach Lee Sung-yong said, "I think (Park) Jong-hoon, (Jung) Dong-yoon, and (Kim) Gun-woo will gain more momentum if they come up solidly and return to Mitch White."

White, who is in charge of one of the starting players along with Drew Anderson this season, complained of right hamstring pain during the second spring camp in Okinawa, Japan, on April 27. The next day, he came to Korea for a checkup at a hospital and was diagnosed with damage to his right hamstring.먹튀검증

An SSG official said on the 1st, "White was diagnosed with damage to his right hamstring (grade 1 to 2). The exact rehabilitation schedule will be released after a re-examination in two weeks," adding, "The club plans to do its best to establish a rehabilitation plan for White's quick recovery and speed up the rehabilitation schedule. Also, we will move quickly according to the situation through a plan for the rehabilitation period."
According to the SSG club, White is currently training at Ganghwa SSG Futures Field, a training ground for SSG's second division. He is showing his willingness to return even when he is unable to make normal pitching.

White plans to check the current situation through a re-examination next week. However, since we cannot guarantee that White will return before the opening of the regular season, SSG should prepare for White's absence early in the season.

Players who competed for the fifth starting pitcher during the spring camp, including Park Jong-hoon, Chung Dong-yoon, and Kim Geon-woo, are expected to fill White's void. "White is constantly sitting down, throwing balls and building his body even when his legs hurt. As he has strong will, I think he is positive," Lee said. "As more and more players are competing for the fifth starting pitcher, I think they will get a chance. It will be more motivating for the players."

In terms of experience, veteran Park Jong-hoon stands out the most. From 2010 to last year, Park marked a total of 26 games, 80 ⅔ innings, three wins, seven losses and two holds with an ERA of 5.58, and last year, he was sluggish in two games, eight ⅓ innings, two losses and an ERA of 8.64.
Chung Dong-yoon (first designated in 2016) and Kim Geon-woo (first designated in 2021) are also challenging the starting lineup. The two players displayed potential for growth in front of the coaching staff through the first spring camp in Florida, the U.S., and the second spring camp in Okinawa, Japan.

"In case of Dong-yoon, he clearly designed the pitching. He threw four-seam ball, but changed it to two-seam ball. He used to be a good curveball player, plays sweeper (deformation slider) and throws splitter, and has the ability to strike out after two strikes," Lee said. "Gun-woo's bold throw against right-handed hitters is his favorite. He is good at changeups, so he tends to be aggressive as well."

It remains to be seen whether SSG, which had been plagued by the mound all season last year, will find a breakthrough with the performance of young pitchers.
